With the addition of Hosting to the core services of C-CUBED IT Solutions, we decided to add a hosting section to our articles. Mostly to educate the general public on some of the basics about emails in general.

What is an email alias?

An email alias is a forwarding email address. The email alias you create forwards mails to any email address that you have specified. The email address you have specified can be on the same server or on a different server. Important to note here that the forwading email address must exist.

For instance, you have the follow email addresses:

This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

You can forward emails that are going to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

What is a Catch-All email address?

A Catch-All email address is an email address to which any mail not destined for a specific account within the particular domain name will be delivered. Catch-All accounts are useful for receiving mail sent to an incorrect recepient email address.

Let's assume you have the following email addresses on a particular domain:

This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it (catch-all)

Mail sent to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and/or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it will be delivered. Mail sent to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it will be filtered to the catch-all email account This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it instead.

What is webmail?

Webmail is usually an internet/intranet application provided by most hosting companies like C-CUBED IT Solutions to allow users and/or clients access thier email from a web browser when they are unable to do so from thier email client.

For instance, if your emails are hosted with C-CUBED IT Solutions:

Open your favourite browser and go to webmail.domainname.com (using your domain name)

Enter your email address and password in the provided fields.

You will be directed to your home page of your web mail application
